Sketches

This painting is headed down to La Luz de Jesus Gallery in L.A. in March. The idea I’m toying with here is creation coupled with destruction; a prerequisite for rebirth is death… lots of symbols here and there and such.

Hi all. Here’s a fashiony, life-styley piece I did up for an illo project for my teacher Rick Sealock. It’s pretty new, and I reworked the colours yesterday so I do believe it counts. It’s a sort of visual narrative piece about an art fundraiser called Power Ball, blahblahblah, there was a picnic area where they served Goldfish Crackers(tm), Chicken McNuggets(tm), Godiva(tm) truffles, and Stella Artois(tm). I worked in a Cinderella character so the series of illustrations would have a common thread — “Cinderella” — “Power BALL”. Get it? Get it?
Happy New Year!

20″ x 24″. Oil on canvas.
A portrait of Roisin Murphy, former lead of Moloko, now off doing her own thing. I really dug her latest and first solo endeavor, “Ruby Blue”.
Besides the obvious imagery driven from the album title, there’s also a proverb in here… something to do with being a “natural” at what you do.
